In conjunction with this effort I installed the new Airmar B112 depth sounder transducer that Gemeco replaced under warranty. In the past, Gemeco's customer service and timely turnaround on orders has always impressed me. This is the first time that I have had to work their warranty department. I continue to be impressed with their service. Last fall my father and I installed the B112 transducer. Here is a link to the photo album from the project - Replace Depth Sounder 2010
The sounder and our starter battery are located under the aft section of the starboard salon seats (pictured in lower right of images above.) Here is what the locker looked like nearing the completion of the installation last fall...
Here is an image of the same area after painting the lockers and seats...
Once we move all the tools, spare parts, etc. from the vee-berth back into these refinished lockers. We can then start refinishing the lockers below the vee-berth.
I found your blog looking for info on M34's your Morgan is simply beautiful you have done allot of work on her she looks great! my Father and I had a 67 M34 out of Naples back in the late 80's early 90's by the name of Midnight bleu. I am currently looking at a 66 M34 and would love to chat with you for a minute if you would not mind.

Jeff, my wife and I recently bought a 68' M34. We are the 3rd owner. the previous owner did many of the project that you are doing now, including restepping the mast on deck with a compression pole. I truly enjoy your site and am developing a real appreciation for the tasks the previous owner did. Love the boat.

Rick,
ReplyDeleteThank for your interest in our blog and the boat.
Always good to hear from another Morgan owner. I would like to see some images of the compression post assembly in your vessel. Do you have any images that you are willing to share? Where are you all based?
Jeff, we are in tarpon springs. I will get some pictures this weekend for you. Not much to see. My boat is a bit unique in that it has no center board. I'm told the first owner took it back to charlie Morgan and had it glassed over. The tiller has also been replaced by a pedestal. Do you ever get up this way?

Rick,
ReplyDeleteI am eager to see some images. Please send to my email - JeffALovett@gmail.com We have not traveled further north than Ft. Myers along the the Gulf Coast. Would like to me the trip up to the St. Pete area sometime. Perhaps one of the springtime Morgan Invasions. What is the name of your M34?
